A thought leader in mental training for elite sports.

Thomas Zerlauth is a true thought leader in the field of mental training. His research journeys have taken him around the globe, and his books and ideas have inspired thousands of people.

More than 35 years ago—when mental training was still considered almost taboo in Europe—he was already recognized as a pioneering figure in elite sports coaching. Today, many mental coaches work with his method “Sport in a State of Excellence,” first published in 1995.

A genuine fascination with the power of the mind.

Thomas Zerlauth has been fascinated by the mind since his youth. He studied hypnosis, became one of the youngest DVNLP Master Trainers in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and trained in systemic family therapy, holotropic breathwork, guided imagery, and several other psychotherapeutic disciplines.

His passion for inner exploration took him around the world, where he sought out wisdom teachers, Qi Gong masters, mindfulness and meditation instructors. He also spent time living as a Buddhist monk in Thailand and has been traveling between Asia, America, and Europe since 1996.

Consciousness, the subconscious mind, and the hidden magic within every human being.

There are now thousands of books on the subject of “mental training.” Yet we must admit that much about the human mind remains unknown, and to this day, science cannot definitively explain how consciousness—the sense of being and becoming aware of something or oneself—actually arises. What we can do, however, is practice tuning into this state and experience conscious presence for ourselves.

The mind cannot be fully understood without understanding consciousness. While we can train the mind, we cannot truly control it. Nor can we permanently stop, tame, or fully regulate it to manage our emotions at will. Much of what goes on within us remains mysterious—hidden in the subconscious, in the realm of what some might call the magical.

Thomas Zerlauth explores these dimensions deeply, often beyond the world of sports. He advises companies on brand development, viewing brands as powerful, often implicit “meaning-making constructs” that create unconscious trust and convey a sense of purpose. He regularly publishes on these topics in leading magazines and publishing houses.

“On the court, there are moments when I enter a state of complete immersion.
I feel connected to the game, my body, and my mind in a way that transcends normal experience.
It’s a magical feeling of unity.”
